Giant Chess!

Yesterday we received a very large delivery – our new giant outdoor chess set! Thanks to all your wonderful donations and support of our Year 5/6 Fair last year, we were able to purchase this terrific new resource for students to use during break times in the playground as part of the Year 6 farewell gift. With so many keen chess players at our school, we look forward to many gigantic battles! Thank you to the Curry family for their great suggestion.

Poor Oscar, checkmate in 4 moves!

Party Time!

What a wonderful birthday surprise I received this morning from the thoughtful and clever students in the OC! Thank you to everyone for your kindness and generosity in making this a special day and for all the delicious party treats. We all had a very fun morning!

Francis!

One of our favourite imaginative multimodal texts is Francis, a chilling tale about a young girl who wanders off from camp and finds herself in a rather unsettling situation.

Our Year 5 students took on the role of investigative journalists last week to produce a newspaper article about the disappearance of Francis. Have a read below…

Maths Champs!

Well done to our super maths stars, Oscar and Noah, who attended the Newcastle Permanent Building Society’s Maths Camp at Myuna Bay on the weekend. The boys were invited to attend due to their outstanding performance of achieving a High Distinction and placing in the top 100 of the Year 5 category of the Newcastle Permanent Maths competition at the end of last year. They had a great time getting involved in lots of challenging maths activities, playing mini-golf, swimming, rope challenges and soccer. Great work, boys!

Yesterday, Year 6 attended Callaghan College Waratah Campus and spent the day in the life of high schoolers. They participated in a variety of activities, including Science, English, Mathematics, PDHPE, Woodwork, Cross Fit, and Sport. We had a sausage sizzle lunch and got to meet other Year 6 students from our neighbouring schools. The students were a beautifully behaved group and a pleasure to take to Callaghan College. Enjoy our photos from our excursion.
