Well done to everyone who participated in this term’s Thinkfest project. Yesterday was the culmination of weeks of hard work which included brainstorming ideas for problems (in the areas of English, maths, science and history), writing scripts, creating a skit, making a key prop, designing and painting a backdrop and creating a video diary and trailer. Thank you to this year’s host school, Cessnock West, where 11 OCs from across the Hunter region met to participate. We had a great time putting our projects together and I was very proud of the fantastic job students did performing and working with their teams. Well done to our History group who won the Best Backdrop award and to our Science and Engineering team who received a Highly Commended award for enthusiasm.
Congratulations to all of our students who have taken part in the variety of mathematics challenges and competitions this year.

It’s almost here! Students have been working tirelessly this term in preparation for our end of year OC event – Thinkfest. This coming Tuesday we are headed to Cessnock West PS to join other OCs from around the region to participate in this program. We leave at 8am on Tuesday so please ensure students are at school on time and that permission notes and payments have been handed in. There are a few photos below and I will post more including videos when they are complete. Looking forward to a great day! A copy of the note is also attached below.
Well done to our students who shared their Halloween writing projects a couple of weeks ago. Students worked in groups with students from 5/6D to create some spooky stories which they read while gathered around our makeshift campfire. Some of the writing samples are attached below.
Thank you to everyone who came along last night to support our school at the CEP Festival at Waratah High. It was a great night – the Sapphires and Bandlink did an excellent job performing and the premiere of our short film was well received. It was lovely to hear so many cheers for Mr Junon’s cameo appearance! Please have a look at the photos and videos below!
This morning we announced our top 6 student leaders for 2016. Congratulations to Vincent, Sia, Zion, Phoebe, Jonte and Lyric. In 2 weeks, these 6 students will present their speech to the whole school for the voting of captains. I would also like to congratulate all the Yr 5s who put themselves forward and exhibited excellent leadership qualities.
Today we received a special visit from some of the players from the Jets women’s league. They talked to us about the hard work and commitment involved in becoming a professional soccer player and demonstrated some awesome tricks. They were also very impressed by our very own Adrian aka future soccer superstar! All students received a ticket to tomorrow’s match.
Each year our school enters this great competition, open to yr 5 and 6 students. This year there were over 18,000 entrants from the region and many of our students achieved amazing results!
