MCYA Maths Challenge

Well done to all our hardworking Stage 3 mathematicians who took part in the Mathematics Challenge for Young Australians last term. The program provided students with a series of problems to work through and allowed them to collaborate and discuss strategies in small groups. Congratulations on your effort and enthusiasm completing this challenging challenge! Our commendable achievements are below:

Super Spellers!

Congratulations to all of our super spellers who took part in our annual Premier’s Spelling Bee last Week. It was a tough competition with many challenging words. Well done to our Stage 3 winner Oliver, 2nd place Rebecca and Henry in 3rd. Thank you to the parents and grandparents who came along to watch and support our children.

Congratulations to our super mathematicians: Hamish, Coco, Henry, Kynan, Julian and Bobby! Last weekend they enjoyed a maths camp at Myuna Bay thanks to their outstanding achievement of High Distinctions in the 2018 Newcastle Permanent Maths competition. Well done, everyone!

Super Kynan!

Congratulations to Kynan, who had a great weekend at Port Macquarie for touch football Junior State Cup Northern Conference. His team, Newcastle City U12 Boys, made the semi finals and will now compete at the state finals at Wollongong in April. Awesome job!

Super Statisticians!

Congratulations to Chelsea, Emma, Edie & Mika who were joint winners of the Years 5-6 Division of the Statistical Society of Australia’s 2018 National Schools Poster Competition with their investigation and poster entitled ‘Water Works’. Dexter & Noah received Honourable Mentions for their poster ‘When I Grow Up…’  It was such a huge project and all students should be incredibly proud of their hard work. 

CEP Digital Media Festival: WINNERS!

Thank you to everyone who came along to the CEP Digital Media Festival and supported Tighes Hill PS! It was a great night with all of our cluster schools and plenty of stalls and entertainment. Well done to our Tigers Aerobics team and our BandLink performers who entertained the crowd. Congratulations to our amazing actors for their talented performances in our winning film!
