Thinkfest 2018!

Congratulations to our super OC who did a fantastic job at the regional Opportunity Class Thinkfest event today! Students have worked so hard this term in preparation for Thinkfest, which is all about problem-solving, team work, research, creativity and innovation. The process has involved researching their topics/problems, creating a skit, writing a script, making a key prop, designing and painting a backdrop, filming a video trailer and maintaining a visual diary of the Thinkfest journey. It’s always such a fun albeit stressful project and students excelled this year with our English team winning their category and our Maths and Science teams receiving Runners Up. We also received lots of certificates for Best Prop, Best Backdrop, Best Visual Diary, Best Script and Best Skit. Well done to Emma who received our school’s medal for Best Thinkfester this year for her outstanding commitment, leadership and team work during the project.  What a day! Enjoy a well earned rest tonight OC, I’m so proud of you!

Hip-Hop Dexter!

Congratulations to Dexter, who competed in Sydney on the weekend in the Dance Brandz Championships for hip hop. His team placed 1st out of 8 teams and were named the 2nd overall highest scoring team in youth novice out of 45 teams! Well done, Dexter – an awesome achievement!

OC Rock Stars!

Well done to Hamish, Blade and Fin who did an awesome job performing the song, The Best Day of our Life, at our weekly assembly today! The boys have been practising for weeks and we look forward to more performances later this year. If you missed it, you can watch their performance below.

CEP Digital Media Festival

Thank you to everyone who came along to our CEP Digital Media Festival last week. The event was a great success, with a turnout of over 2,500 community members. Our fundraising stall – popcorn and slushies – raised close to $1000, which goes back towards supporting our creative and performing arts programs.

Our film, The Other Side of the Door, written and created by our students, was enthusiastically received and has helped further cement the festival as a highlight on participating schools’ creative and performing arts calendar.

In the afternoon session, our amazing Year 5 and 6 students visited classrooms from K-4 and taught a series of art lessons including play doh monsters, bunting, hand dinosaurs / peacocks /butterflies, kaleidoscopes, writing styles, pattern design, collages, superhero / character sketching, sock puppets, paper planes, graphic art / shading, and zentangles. I am so incredibly proud of the efforts our senior kids went to today. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working with the younger students and it was a whole new world seeing the classroom from the teacher’s perspective!

A special thank you to Jane, our Art Cave guru and her team of volunteers for their efforts in working with classes and curating the Lower Hall and Community Room for our Art Gallery. It was so wonderful to see a huge turnout of families and friends to Education Week 2017!

Education Week Celebrations

We are celebrating Education Week on Thursday 3rd August, 2017.

Grandparents, parents and friends are invited to join us for this special occasion, beginning at 9.30am with an assembly under our COLA. We will be highlighting some of the fantastic creative and performing arts programs taking place in our school, with a showcase of performances from our school band, aerobics team, choir groups, public speakers and dance group.

After our performances, you are invited to join your children for a shared BYO picnic lunch and visit our student Art Gallery set up in the lower hall. A gold coin donation would be greatly appreciated to help support our creative and performing arts programs.

We look forward to celebrating and sharing this wonderful day with you.
