Well done to our Year 6 boys who attended the Walk A Mile Koori Style event on Friday in order to raise awareness about violence against women. After their walk, the boys and men read out a pledge, then carried dresses representing victims of violence to a display at King Edward Park. We are so proud of the respect that our boys showed today and for their participation in this important event. Afterwards, they enjoyed a sausage sizzle lunch, entertainment, and activities. Thank you to Miss Chapman and Mrs Bowman for attending this event with our students.
Yesterday our Year 6 boys took a stand against domestic violence and violence in our community by joining in the Walk a Mile Koori Style march. We joined with many other schools across the Hunter and made our way through Newcastle streets to King Edward Park where we made a solemn oath to ‘never be violent, never be silent’. At the park we enjoyed mountains of food, drink, lollies, ice blocks and other treats while we saw bands, including the really rockin’ Police Band, and traditional Indigenous dance performances. Thank you Ms Chapman and Mr Slade for organising this event for our boys.
