Congratulations to Noah, Connor, Akira, Hunter and Corey who represented our school at the Interschool Chess Challenge State Finals on Thursday in Sydney. The boys played extremely well given the fierce competition and 5am start, placing 7th in NSW. A great achievement, we are all so proud of you! Thank you to all the parents for your support, chaperoning and time.
Thank you to everyone who supported our Book Fair this week and well done to all of the students who made a huge effort dressing up in costume for this year’s theme Escape to Everywhere for yesterday’s Book Parade. We had a terrific day and there were so many creative and clever costumes. Thank you to Mrs Derricott who always does a fabulous job organising this event for us. Enjoy the photos below.

In the afternoon session, our amazing Year 5 and 6 students visited classrooms from K-4 and taught a series of art lessons including play doh monsters, bunting, hand dinosaurs / peacocks /butterflies, kaleidoscopes, writing styles, pattern design, collages, superhero / character sketching, sock puppets, paper planes, graphic art / shading, and zentangles. I am so incredibly proud of the efforts our senior kids went to today. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working with the younger students and it was a whole new world seeing the classroom from the teacher’s perspective!
A special thank you to Jane, our Art Cave guru and her team of volunteers for their efforts in working with classes and curating the Lower Hall and Community Room for our Art Gallery. It was so wonderful to see a huge turnout of families and friends to Education Week 2017!
Congratulations to everyone who had a go in today’s Premier’s Spelling Bee event. It was wonderful to have so many students from our class be brave and give it a shot. It was a tough event, with our 4 top spellers – Emma, Celeste, Noah and Chelsea battling it out for the top spot. Well done to Chelsea who claimed 1st place, followed by Noah in 2nd and Emma and Celeste equal 3rd. Chelsea and Noah will join our Stage 2 winners in representing our school at the regional finals later this term. Certificates for all participants will be awarded at Monday’s assembly. Thank you to the parents and grandparents who came along to watch and support our children today.
This term in Week 3 on Wednesday 2nd August, students from Years 3 to 6 are invited to take part in the annual Premier’s Spelling Bee Competition. This is a fun event that encourages students to engage with spelling and promotes improved literacy.
Parents and caregivers, we would love for you to come along and support your children on the day. Competitions are organised into two divisions and will run at the following times: Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6): Upper Hall, 11:40 am Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4): Upper Hall, 9:20 am
The winners and runners-up from each Stage will be presented with a certificate at our weekly assembly the following week, and then move onto the regional finals in September. Word lists are available on the Arts Unit website by using the link Premier’s Spelling Bee and the password riddle. Junior words begin at Level1 and go to Level 5. Senior words begin at Level 2 and go to Level 7.
We are celebrating Education Week on Thursday 3rd August, 2017.
Grandparents, parents and friends are invited to join us for this special occasion, beginning at 9.30am with an assembly under our COLA. We will be highlighting some of the fantastic creative and performing arts programs taking place in our school, with a showcase of performances from our school band, aerobics team, choir groups, public speakers and dance group.
After our performances, you are invited to join your children for a shared BYO picnic lunch and visit our student Art Gallery set up in the lower hall. A gold coin donation would be greatly appreciated to help support our creative and performing arts programs.
We look forward to celebrating and sharing this wonderful day with you.
