We are celebrating Education Week on Thursday 3rd August, 2017.
Grandparents, parents and friends are invited to join us for this special occasion, beginning at 9.30am with an assembly under our COLA. We will be highlighting some of the fantastic creative and performing arts programs taking place in our school, with a showcase of performances from our school band, aerobics team, choir groups, public speakers and dance group.
After our performances, you are invited to join your children for a shared BYO picnic lunch and visit our student Art Gallery set up in the lower hall. A gold coin donation would be greatly appreciated to help support our creative and performing arts programs.
We look forward to celebrating and sharing this wonderful day with you.
We completed our STEM Spectacular this afternoon with a combined Stage 3 activity – The Egg Drop Challenge! Students were tasked with designing and making a contraption to support an egg (yes, a raw one) during a high drop. Thanks for your efforts and generosity donating recyclable materials for the challenge. There were lots of interesting items, including plastic bags, balloons, bubble wrap, cardboard, foam, bottles and boxes! It was great to see lots of creative and innovative designs and many secure contraptions that helped their egg land safely. Thank you to Mrs Bowman for organising this wonderful activity for us today!
What a fabulous way to celebrate Education Week today! Despite the miserable weather, it was great to see so many grandparents, parents, friends and family attend our STEM classroom activities and shared lunch! Congratulations to our Year 5/6 students who were undoubtedly the stars of the day. I was so proud of the wonderful job our students did presenting their activity for our younger grades and our many visitors. Thank you to everyone who came along today and supported this terrific event! Check out the photos below of our mini-scientists in action…
Thank you to all the grandparents, parents, families and friends that joined us yesterday to celebrate Education Week. All our performers, public speakers and student leaders did a superb job during our morning assembly.
It was wonderful to see so many people visit our student Art Gallery set up in the lower hall. A massive thank you to Jane Lander (Vincent’s mum) for all her hard work and efforts working with our students in the Art Cave and setting up the gallery. If you were unable to join us on Thursday, the gallery will be set up until Wednesday so feel free to come in and have a look.
During the last session of the day, our Yr5/6 students visited classes to deliver an art activity. Some of these included origami, hand-print painting, playdough monsters, egg carton caterpillars, a dance routine, 3D designs, paper craft boxes, snowflake designs, bubble writing and mask making. I was so impressed with the way our seniors conducted themselves and worked with our younger students. There were so many happy little faces excited to take home their artwork at the end of the day.
All the photos from the day are below.
Last week, five of our students attended the CEP Education Week assembly at Jesmond Technology Campus. Congratulations to Mitchell from the OC who received a special award for always striving for excellence. A well deserved achievement for a wonderful student!
Thank you to everyone who joined us today to celebrate Education Week with our Science Spectacular! Our Year 5 and 6 students did an amazing job demonstrating their science experiments which included Psylli Slime, Bubble Prints, Sherbet, Volcanic Eruptions and Lava Lamps. After our delicious sausage sizzle lunch, students and parents took part in our engineering challenge task, A Tall Order, where students had 25 minutes to design and build a free standing structure made from spaghetti that could balance a marshmallow on top! Well done to everyone for their terrific efforts today. As you can see in the photos below, a great day was had by all. A huge thank you to the awesome Mrs ‘mad scientist’ Bowman for her organisation of the day and her incredible enthusiasm and passion for teaching and learning!
