Art Masterpieces

This term in Art Cave with Jane and Alex, Stage 3 students have created collages of famous artworks. The OC chose Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night and Roy Lichtenstein inspired pop art words. Each student used a 10x10cm piece of card to recreate a section of the artwork, creating our own unique interpretation in which all students contributed. We’re still putting on the finishing touches and our completed works will be on display at our Art Gallery event during Education Week (week 3) next term. As always, a tremendous thanks to Jane and Alex for giving so much time and effort to our students.

Art Cave Totems

Today we had our first session of Art Cave (thanks for all the toilet roll donations) with our wonderfully artistic volunteers Jane and Alex. We began working on creating ceramic totems that will eventually be constructed to make a class display within the school grounds. Well done, everyone!

Cardboard Metropolis

This term in Art Cave, Stage 3 have been working on their own cardboard city creations. We started by looking at the works of Ana Serrano – http://www.anaserrano.com/index.php?/work/buildings-2/ – and then choosing our own shops and structures within cities that we could construct using recyclable materials. Thank you to our wonderful resident artist, Jane, and to Alex, for their efforts and creativity. It is wonderful to work on such large scale projects such as Cardboard City and it would not be possible without their efforts. Have a look at the slideshow of images from our creations below.

Art Cave

Have a look at the terrific effort our students have made in Art Cave this term. Students have been doing ceramics and created some Olympic busts. Well done! As always, thanks to the amazing Jane for her time, creativity and initiative in running the Art Cave.

Art Cave

Last term in Art Cave all Stage 3 students participated in Lino Printing. Students began by creating and drawing a unique design, tracing this onto their lino, carving their design and finally printing. Below are some photos of our completed prints. A huge thank you to Jane, who not only volunteers her time, but organises all of these fantastic Visual Arts opportunities for our students. This term students have begun working on self-portraits. Can’t wait to see how they turn out!

Art Cave

This term during our Art Cave sessions with Jane, we have been working on Lino printing. Students created their own design and learnt all about the different techniques and processes for lino carving and printing. Well done and thank you to Jane for always providing us with great artistic experiences! I am looking forward to seeing our finished work.

Art Cave

Today the OC enjoyed their first session in the freshly revamped Art Cave! Thanks to our parent volunteers, Jane and Thuy, who organise this wonderful opportunity for our students. Today we began with ceramics – can’t wait to see how our creations turn out!

Education Week Celebrations

Thank you to all the grandparents, parents, families and friends that joined us yesterday to celebrate Education Week. All our performers, public speakers and student leaders did a superb job during our morning assembly.

It was wonderful to see so many people visit our student Art Gallery set up in the lower hall. A massive thank you to Jane Lander (Vincent’s mum) for all her hard work and efforts working with our students in the Art Cave and setting up the gallery. If you were unable to join us on Thursday, the gallery will be set up until Wednesday so feel free to come in and have a look.

During the last session of the day, our Yr5/6 students visited classes to deliver an art activity. Some of these included origami, hand-print painting, playdough monsters, egg carton caterpillars, a dance routine, 3D designs, paper craft boxes, snowflake designs, bubble writing and mask making. I was so impressed with the way our seniors conducted themselves and worked with our younger students. There were so many happy little faces excited to take home their artwork at the end of the day.

All the photos from the day are below.
