Well done to our Stage 3 students who participated in the Spelling Bee today! Congratulations to Dexter (1st place), Chelsea (2nd place), and Emma and Noah (equal 3rd place). Dexter and Chelsea will compete in the Regional Spelling Bee!

STEM Groups!

Last week, Stage 3 began their STEM groups! We made and tested paper helicopters, experimented with Strawbees creations, and coded Ozobots around a track. Each week our groups explore challenges involving Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Looking forward to more scientific exploration throughout the term!

Athletics Carnival

Well done to our amazing kids who competed in the K-6 Athletics Carnival today. It was wonderful to see so many students having a go and congratulating each other. Beautiful school spirit! Thanks to Mr Slade for organising another great carnival for us and thanks to the rain for holding out until we were finished!

Speak Off!

Congratulations to all our amazing speakers who presented their speeches today at our annual Speak Off Competition. We heard about a variety of topics, including cockroaches, pet peeves, apples, magic, grandparents and technology, younger siblings, Australian stereotypes and many more! The audience was entertained and in fits of laughter. What a talented bunch of speakers we were blessed to listen to today. A special congratulations to our winners, Nikolai and Seb in Stage 3. Our winners will present their speeches and compete at the Hunter Interschools Public Speaking Competition. Well done, everybody!

ANZAC: Lest we forget

Thank you to all of our students for their excellent behaviour, respect and contribution to our school ANZAC service today. Our student leaders delivered the service beautifully and our class representatives helped commemorate this solemn occasion during the wreath-laying ceremony. Thank you to our special guests from the Mayfield RSL and to the parents who attended. Well done, THPS.

Storybird Sharing

Students in 5W, 5/6A OC, and 6B have been working on an imaginative writing task this term. Using the Storybird website, students have created beautiful narratives with Storybird artworks to share with younger readers in their buddy classes and the library. Today, we had a sharing session where students read each other’s books, which was perfect for pyjama day! Keep an eye out on our class blogs over the next few days to read digital copies of the narratives.
