In the afternoon session, our amazing Year 5 and 6 students visited classrooms from K-4 and taught a series of art lessons including play doh monsters, bunting, hand dinosaurs / peacocks /butterflies, kaleidoscopes, writing styles, pattern design, collages, superhero / character sketching, sock puppets, paper planes, graphic art / shading, and zentangles. I am so incredibly proud of the efforts our senior kids went to today. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working with the younger students and it was a whole new world seeing the classroom from the teacher’s perspective!

A special thank you to Jane, our Art Cave guru and her team of volunteers for their efforts in working with classes and curating the Lower Hall and Community Room for our Art Gallery. It was so wonderful to see a huge turnout of families and friends to Education Week 2017!

Super Spellers!

Congratulations to everyone who had a go in today’s Premier’s Spelling Bee event. It was wonderful to have so many students from our class be brave and give it a shot. It was a tough event, with our 4 top spellers – Emma, Celeste, Noah and Chelsea battling it out for the top spot. Well done to Chelsea who claimed 1st place, followed by Noah in 2nd and Emma and Celeste equal 3rd. Chelsea and Noah will join our Stage 2 winners in representing our school at the regional finals later this term. Certificates for all participants will be awarded at Monday’s assembly. Thank you to the parents and grandparents who came along to watch and support our children today.

Maths Challenge!

Well done to all our super mathematicians who took part in the Mathematics Challenge for Young Australians at the end of last term. The program provided students with a series of problems to work through and allowed them to collaborate and discuss strategies in small groups.  Congratulations on your effort and hard work completing this challenging challenge! Our wonderful achievements are below:

Participation – Jayden

Proficiency – Jules

Credits – Amie, Eleanor, Ellen, Fin, Blade, Raquel, Ember, Layla, Celeste and Liana

OC Book Club!

Thank you to the students who joined me for our Book Club meeting today where we discussed Garth Nix’s Frogkisser! It was great to hear lots of different opinions and thoughtful discussion. Our next book is A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L’Engle. Enjoy!
