Happy Campers!

Last Wednesday our year 5/6 students embarked on an epic adventure to the Great Aussie Bush Camp at Tea Gardens for our 3 day camp.

We had a busy schedule full of fun activities lead by our enthusiastic camp instructors Georgia and Mason. Our first adventure was to the Lost Island – Mud World, which saw our happy and clean campers get extremely wet and incredibly dirty. Mr Slade also enjoyed himself filling bucket after bucket of muddy water.

After showering and afternoon tea, students went in 2 groups to the dual flying fox and archery. A highlight was playing Commando in the bush on the first night. Despite a few scrapes from some nasty plants, students cunningly worked their way through the bush to free the hostages.

On our second day the weather turned cool and damp. Raincoat clad, we headed off to Jimmy’s Beach and a bush walk to Mt Yaccaba. Unfortunately we attracted the attention of a lone dingo so we cut our walk short and headed to the beach for some games instead.

Back at camp students enjoyed some canoeing. Well done to Miss Drew who did her best to paddle to Narnia for Jarvis! Our evening activity for night 2 was the giant swing. This was amazing! I was blown away by how brave everyone was, being hoisted 15 metres high then pulling the rip cord to self-release into a massive swing.

Everyone woke early on our final day to pack up and get ready for our last activities. Both groups took part in orienteering and an obstacle course on the high ropes.

It was certainly an exhausting but fantastic few days. I’m sure there were lots of tired and voiceless kids on the weekend! Well done to everyone for their terrific behaviour, participation and enthusiasm. Be sure to have a look at the 200+ photos below.
