Tiger Fashion
It’s amazing just how popular our Tiger Tales blog is becoming! Today we snapped fashionista and teacher Miss Elley wearing a Tiger Tales inspired garment. Does this mean we will soon be seeing Tiger fashion on the international runways of Paris or Milan? Or perhaps it will be the inspiration for a new school uniform? One thing’s for sure and that’s the amazing progress and accomplishments the OC have made this year in making our new class blog such a success! Be on the lookout for more Tiger fashion and thanks for subscribing to Tiger Tales.
Meet Dr Jarad
Today we had our first visit from our class mathematician Dr Jarad Martin who is a Radiation Oncologist at the Mater Hospital. Dr Jarad very generously gave up some of his time today to meet and work with students on some challenging mathematical problem solving. Students explored a variety of mathematical concepts and theories such as Factorial Equations (n!) and Pythagoras Theorem and looked at the uses and importance of prime numbers.
The OC would like to thank Dr Jarad for joining us today and sharing his amazing mathematical skills and knowledge. We look forward to working with him next term.

Meet Dr Graeme
Today we had our first visit from our class scientist Dr Graeme Puxty as part of the Scientists in Schools program. Dr Graeme, who works at the CSIRO at Mayfield, talked with students all about the important research and work he does in his position. We learned all about the greenhouse effect and some of the ideas and projects scientists are working on to achieve sustainability. Dr Graeme also showed us a prototype of a very small transparent solar panel that they are developing at the CSIRO. Very cool!
Earthquake Explorers
Students have been learning about earthquakes during our science lessons with Miss Staniland. Today we learned about tectonic plates and how the moving plates cause earthquakes. We used balls of playdoh to represent the plates and experimented by moving them in a variety of ways to explore the different types of earthquakes.
World Education Games
This week students have been participating in the World Education Games via Mathletics to celebrate World Literacy Day (Tuesday), World Maths Day (Wednesday) and World Science Day (Thursday). This has involved a variety of online challenges where students play against other students from different countries all over the world. Students have enjoyed participating in these challenges and have achieved some terrific results!
